Internet Filtering:
Our district uses an Internet filtering service district wide on all school computers.  This is necessary to comply with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) federal law for school and library computers. All computers are set to access the Internet only by going through this filter.  This will restrict access to sites our students shouldn’t be going to. School staff have capabilities to override the filter if you find it is limiting your access to sites you feel are necessary for your students.

Please remember that Internet filtering is just one tool provided by our district to help staff when using the Internet with their students.
“Teachers or supervisors who utilize school computers for instructional purposes with students
have a duty of care to supervise such use.”

We also have installed a Firewall to prevent attacks and unauthorized access to our district’s networks from outside.  This firewalls also limits the access  to the outside of our networks (Internet) by only going through this firewall.

Purchasing Computers through the School Department:
Staff may purchase computers through the School Department at educational pricing.  The technology staff is willing to help you with selecting a system and getting a price quote for that system.  When the system is delivered our staff will install software available to you as an employee of the school district.  Please note that some software may have to be purchased by you for home use.  If you choose to purchase a computer through the School Department the entire cost of that system is due when you receive your computer.  The School Department does not sponsor any payroll deduction, payment plans and cannot accept purchases with credit cards.
