OUR MISSION:
The World Affairs Council of Cape Elizabeth High School recognizes that without knowledge there cannot be tolerance;
and without awareness there cannot be progress.
Therefore, we exist to foster a deepened understanding of global issues and international politics.

**** Planning/Strategy/Advisory Meetings are held every Tuesday morning at 7:15 am - All Members interested in taking a more active role in planning and organizing activities & events are welcome to attend.  This is a good way to find out if you are interested in being an officer next year!!!!!!!

September 24th THURSDAY AT 7AM!!!!  ALL STUDENTS SIGNED UP FOR THE BROWN MODEL UN MUST ATTEND MANDATORY MEETING IN ROOM 308!!!!!!!!

September 24th: The Politics of Water - from Ancient Rome to today with Prof. Peter Aicher / 8:00-9 am @ Portland Country Club DEPART CEHS AT 7:30

FUNDRAISER: Thurs, Sept 10th - CEHS Open House Bake Sale – Please drop off baked goods in Room 308 on the 10th!

First Meeting of the 2009-2010 School Year on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 17 @ 5:30 PM in Room 308. All are welcome! Topic for discussion:  North Korea

September 29th Tuesday at 7:15 am - Executive Coucil Meeting to plan upcoming events. All are welcome!!!!!
October 1st: WAC meeting in Room 308 at 5:30. As always, everybody (including new folks) are welcome!  We'll snack, talk about upcoming events & have our own, informal "GLOBALQUEST" to prep a delegation to compete for WorldQuest.

October 2nd: Brown Model UN second payment DUE!

October 6th Tuesday: 7am executive meeting all are welcome, in Room 308.

October 8th Thursday: Mandatory Brown Model UN meeting 7am sharp in Room 308. Brin binder with completed UN webquest, completed country research questions, and annotated articles.
EVENT: October 15th: Cuba Today - with Dan Erikson, author and Senior Associate oat the Inter-American Dialogue - 7am-9am @ TBA

Sunday October 18th: Model UN 12-2 in room 308. Students should have amassed all information on their topic and have a good idea of what their countries opinion is.

October 22 – WorldQuest Trivia Competition 6pm at unum.

October 25th/Sunday / 6:30  - MAINE PREMIER OF DOCUMENTARY FILM: SEOUL TRAIN - NORTH KOREAN REFUGEE CRISIS EXPOSED!   

October 29: WAC thursday at 5:30 in room 308

October 30: 2:30 room 308 Brown model UN meeting on friday.

First Model UN: Brown University, November 12-15, 2009 – reserve your spot by submitting a $100 deposit to Ms. McNulty ASAP!

Thursday, December 3: 5:30 PM @ high school in room 308 - full WAC meeting! all are welcome!

Sunday, December 6 - 3:00 PM @ Kettle Cove - prep for major fundraiser - greeting cards featuring images of globe placed on one of Cape's beautiful beaches. Bring your globe and a camera! Rain date of Monday, December 7 at 7:15 AM
